Vijay in Udhaya Nidhi’s film?

Will Vijay work in a movie to be produced by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s grand-son Udhaya Nidhi?

There were speculations that the two would come together this year.

When queried, Udhaya Nidhi said, “It is certain that I would try my hand at film production, but the actor and the director have not been decided.”

On his part, Vijay said, “The project is still under consideration and we haven’t finalized it as yet.”

However, it looks likely that the two have decided to work together.

Recently Udhaya Nidhi took part in a function organized in Madurai to celebrate the good run of Pokkiri and heaped laurels on the actor and it was reported that the two were closeted for a while.

Vijay at ‘Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthaen’ Audio Launch

The audio of ‘Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthaen’, directed by Manikandan and produced by Baburaja of JJ Good Films was launched in Sathyam Cinemas today (24.02.2007).  Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthaen has Vikranth and Aashitha (New Comer) playing the lead roles. Joshua Sridhar has scored the music for the film.

The audio launch which took place this evening at Sathyam Cinemas witnessed lot of crowds with the younger breed of actors attracting everyone’s attention with their constant chatting and cheerful smiles. Stalwarts of Kollywood including ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay, K.S.Ravikumar, ‘Super Good Films’ R.B.Chowdary, Cheran, Lingusamy, Joshua Sridhar, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Dhanush, Sneha, ‘Kadhal’ Sandhya, Jeeva, ‘Githan’ Ramesh and many other dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence at Sree Theater (Sathyam Cinemas).

Poornima Bhagyaraj lit the Kuthu Vilzhaku and inaugurated the Audio Launch function. The audio was released by ‘Ilaythalapathy’ Vijay and was received by Vikranth and other younger breed of actors who had their presence there at function. The trailer release by Dhanush was later followed at the function. The event also witnessed screening of two songs from movie and trailer which looked promising. Its  also learnt that debutant director Manikanadan was one time associate of Director Selvaraghavan.

The story of this film is supposed to be complicated, with religious overtones. The hero is a Hindu. He falls in love with a Muslim girl. How they fall in love and unite is the story. The story is set in Hyderabad, so the title was also fixed as ‘Hyderabad.’ Since that is the capital of Andhra, they did not want to raise the anger of Tamil fanatics and decided to change the title to ‘Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthu.’

The celebrities who graced at the function gave their views on the movie after watching the songs and our ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay was the spotlight of the event who was expected the most by media people present there. Vijay spoke a few words about Vikranth and his dedication towards movies. He also added “Myself and Vikranth have a meet occasionally; and he talks just movies & movies only and nothing else! Vikranth is just too dedicated about his movies and I would like to wish the entire team and Vikranth the very best.”

Having learnt his work under R B Chowdry, producer Baburaja is a whiz at delivering wholesome films made on a modest budget. Director Manikandan had a tough time choosing the male lead and he had approached many stars in Kollywood who all rejected feeling this as a controversial movie but finally Vikranth was able to grab this project.

Sneha and Sandhya were the two  actress who were present at the function and Sneha who looked dazzling,  was seen in a Pink Designer Salwar. One would remember that she paired along with our ‘Ilayathalapathy’ for Vaaseegara.

On the whole, it was a star studded audio release function, which has given rise to a lot of expectations about the film. VFN Team were invited to the function for the event witnessed ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay gracing the function and gallery has been updated with Audio Launch of ‘Ninaithu Ninaithu Paarthaean’ pictures, have a look at them.

Pokkiri` ahead, but `VV` is the winner!

It may sound bizarre, Vijay’s Pokkiri is a bigger hit, than Kamal’s Vettayadu Vilayadu, but at the box-office the latter is the winner!

How did this anomaly happen? Simple – mathematics! Ticket rates controlled by the state government are only 60-70 percent of what prevailed during the free market rates at the time of release of Vetayadu Vilayadu!

More audience have watched Pokkiri than Vetayadu Vilayadu in Tamilnadu, but is not reflected at the box-office collections. Says Meenaxi Sundaram, Manager of Mayajaal Multiplex on ECR in Chennai: “ Vetayadu Vilayadu, was seen by 31,293 audiences in 57 days run, while Pokkiri has already been seen by 31,419 audiences in 42 days (till Feb24) and still running”.

Vijay donates cows

vijay

Extracting time from the busy schedules of Azhagiya Tamil Magan, Vijay found himself distributing cows to the needy in Madurai recently. Yes you heard it right; the actor gave away 9 cows in an event to celebrate the success of Pokkiri organized by his fan association in Madurai.

The event was conducted in the Cine Priya theatre in Madurai and was attended by Police Commissioner Kumaravel, distributors council head Anbuchezhiyan, and Durai – M.K. Azhagiri’s son.The cow donation was preceded by the ‘Kopooja’ ritual performed by sanyasis.

Fans from the nearby villages gathered after news about Vijay’s arrival spread. Vijay, in his speech stated that he has been doing numerous social welfare activities and donating cows is first of its kind. It is fulfilling, he added. I would have loved to visit all the theatres around Madurai that play Pokkiri, but had to visit Aruppukottai where my fans have arranged for free land distribution to the poor, he revealed.

Vijay’s visit to the theatre ended up in a stampede and police charged lathi to control the crowd.

On a lighter note, Vijay’s son who has been admitted to a school recently entertains his friends by enacting Vijay’s punch dialogue ‘Naan oru thadava mudivu pannitta, anda mudiva ennaal kooda maatha mudiyadu’ from Pokkiri. Chip off the old block, eh?

All for Vijay! – Namitha

Vijay

Thanks to ‘Azhagiya Thamizh Magan,’ Namitha seems to have grown in stature.

After having romanced aging heroes like Sarath Kumar and Sathyaraj in her earlier films, Namitha runs after Vijay in ‘Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.’ Shriya is the other heroine in the film. Namitha’s is a one sided love in the film.

After acting 2 days with Vijay, Namitha is all praises for him. He is full of his simplicity, measured acting, measures talking and friendly behavior. She sounds happy when she says,”There is always a kuthu song in Vijay’s film that is liked by all and we are doing one such number in this film too.”

For this, Namitha has given up many things. For one, she has drastically reduced her acting fee. She even gave up roles where she was the solo heroine. Why?

“It’s all for Vijay!” says Namitha with a serene smile!
