Vijay’s bodyguard – only on success

Vijay’s bodyguard – only on success

November 22, 2008

There seems to be a slight change in Vijay’s plans for his 50th movie. As reported by us earlier, his 50th movie would be produced by S.A. Chandrasekhar for Vijay’s home banner and directed by the Malayalam director Siddique. It was also learnt that the movie will be a remake of the Malayalam movie Bodyguard, now
Vijay
under production directed by Siddique.

However, since Bodyguard is only under production Vijay seems to be a bit apprehensive about its effectiveness to be remade into Tamil. Vijay’s apprehension is addressed to Siddique and, as it seems, it is decided that Bodyguard would be made in Tamil only if the movie is proving to be a success in Malayalam. If not, Siddique will create an exclusive script for Vijay.

Vijay – “Villu is shaping up well”

vijay-fan-14-11-08

Dear Behindwoods Team,

I am an ardent visitor of BW. I personally feel anything published on your site will reach millions of hearts. Recently IlayaThalapathy Vijay came to Tuticorin for shooting of his movie Villu. He was put up in Satya Resorts and no banners were kept in order to reduce the crowd during shooting time.

But still a huge crowd came to watch Vijay, and shooting didn’t take place for 2 days. A chase scene was planned to take in Tiruchendur Bye-pass road and a song sequence in Manapaadu, a seashore area. I took much pains to meet Vijay, but I couldn’t meet him.

On a fine day morning when we went to Satya resorts, we saw Vijay walking out of his room as usual in his casual looking wear. The gardeners who were working there felt happy on seeing him. He smiled, waved hands and wished them. You could see the smiling faces of those gardeners in the photo also. And when we went near him, the time was almost 9 and it was late for shooting. But yet he took 2 photos with us patiently and said “Villu is shaping up so good. Do watch it with family”, and as usual bid us good bye with his trade mark smile.

While taking the photo, I was just standing at a distance, but Vijay came close and put his hands over my shoulder- just like my close pal and took it. No words to describe his humbleness.

I’ll keep on updating the shoot from Pearl city.

Regards,
S.Siby

Ranjitha plays Vijay’s mom

Yesteryear heroine Ranjitha, introduced by director Bharathiraja in ‘Nadodi Thendral’, plays Vijay’s mother in ‘Villu’.

It may be recalled that yesteryear heroine Geetha played Vijay’s mother in ‘Sivakasi’ and Simran did the same for Surya in ‘Varanam Ayiram’.

Now it is Ranjitha’s turn to take up a senior role. The actress, who had been part of several films in the early 1990’s, ventured onto the small screen after her marriage. Now she is back to play Vijay’s mother in the silver screen.

‘Villu’ directed by Prabhudeva, features Vijay in dual roles and Nayanthara plays his ladylove.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Unnavrutham!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay started his Unnavrutham (fast) to protest against the violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka today (Nov 16) morning in front of the Chepauk government guest house in Chennai.

From early morning, a huge contingent of Vijay fans converged at the venue in mini buses, autos, SUV’s and two wheelers with party blue and white flag flying high. The star came in his new silver Nissan X-5, at around 10am.

As he tried to get on the stage the huge crowd erupted and was overjoyed to see their hero. The police had a tough time in controlling the crowds. A young crazy fan rushed from the crowd and made it to the stage and kissed Vijay on the cheeks before he was pushed out by the star’s security men.

Vijay’s father S.A Chandrasekhar is the master of ceremonies. He had tough time controlling the crowds and at the same time seeing to it that the speakers did not say anything inflammatory.

When actor Mansoor Ali Khan said about Sri Lankan President Rajapakse and how he comes to India to get arms, SAC tactfully led him off the stage. As SAC remarked: “Please note this is not a Unnavrutham conducted by any political party, but a protest against the inhuman treatment of Tamils in Sri Lanka. We want the government to hear the voice of the youth, the lakhs of Vijay fans.”

Later Vijay himself sitting on the stage in an informal chat with sify.com said: “I’m doing this on the request of my fans. My heart, like my fans, bleed for the Sri Lankan Tamils trapped in a war thrust on them. I want this war stopped, so that all Tamil people can live in peace.”

Vijay’s bodyguard!

villu-07

Vijay seems to be nearing 50 (movies) and how. Before his 48th flick Villu’s shoots are over, plans are shaping up for his 50th film. As reported by us earlier, the movie would be produced by S.A. Chandrasekhar for Vijay’s home banner and directed by the Malayalam director Siddique.

As per the latest buzz, the movie will be the remake of the Dilip starrer Malayalam flick Bodyguard. Known for his comedy movies, Siddique also seems to have obtained Vijay’s consent about Bodyguard. The movie’s script, however, would undergo regionalization techniques to be in tune with the interests of the actor’s fan base. Siddique’s association with Vijay is nothing new as he has already directed the actor for the hit movie Friends.

Vijay fans’ protest on November 16

TVijayhe whole of Kollywood protested the ongoing civil war in Sri Lanka and its effect on Sri Lankan Tamils. Now it is the turn of the fans! On November 16th, Vijay’s fans will assemble at Chepauk and fast until dusk as a mark of protest against the Lankan civil war. This was decided at a special meeting held recently; immediately a petition was submitted to Commissioner Sekar seeking permission to hold a protest, who sanctioned it after the fans promised him they will maintain law and order during the protest. Now, preparations are underway to hold a peaceful protest in Chepauk on November 16. This decision has been taken by Vijay’s fan club members and not by Vijay.

It may be recalled that during the Nadigar Sangam protest on November 1st, Vijay had requested his fans to send telegrams to the Prime Minister requesting him (PM) to stop the Lankan civil war. Then in the protest held by FEFSI, he thanked his fans for responding by sending thousands of telegrams per day and also requested them to send even more telegtams.

The entire film industry has been surprised at this move by Vijay’s fans.

Voices in support of the alleged genocide in Sri Lanka against the ethnic Tamil minority are growing day by day in the film fraternity. After the protests and procession by directors in Rameswaram, one-day fast by Nadigar Sangam members, human chain by all parties, fast by FEFSI members, and the fast organized by fans of popular actors, fan clubs of actor Vijay have seem to decide to conduct a similar exercise on November 16, 2008.
The one-day fast and protest will be held near the Chepauk Guest House in Chennai on November 16th as per an official release. The fan club members earlier met the Chennai Police Commissioner Sekhar to submit a petition requesting for permission and as per latest news, police officials have given a go ahead.
